Information under the Pkw-EnVKV
Consumption & CO₂
How to read the consumption and emission figures on our vehicle pages.
Further information on the official fuel consumption and official specific CO₂ emissions and, where applicable, the electricity consumption of new passenger cars can be found in the “Guide to the official fuel consumption, official specific CO₂ emissions and official electricity consumption of new passenger cars” („Leitfaden über den offiziellen Kraftstoffverbrauch, die offiziellen spezifischen CO₂-Emissionen und den offiziellen Stromverbrauch neuer Pkw“), which is available free of charge at all points of sale and from Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH (DAT), Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, 73760 Ostfildern-Scharnhausen, Germany, and at www.dat.de.
WLTP test procedure
All consumption and emission figures are determined according to the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). The figures stated are combined values from driving in town, in suburbs, on country roads and on motorways. Actual consumption depends on factors such as driving style, load, weather, traffic and optional equipment.
CO₂ classes
The CO₂ class is determined on the basis of a vehicle’s combined CO₂ emissions:
| CO₂ class | Combined CO₂ emissions |
|---|---|
| A | 0 g/km |
| B | 1 to 95 g/km |
| C | 96 to 115 g/km |
| D | 116 to 135 g/km |
| E | 136 to 155 g/km |
| F | 156 to 175 g/km |
| G | over 175 g/km |
Plug-in hybrids
For externally chargeable hybrid vehicles, two CO₂ classes are stated: one based on the weighted combined CO₂ emissions and one for operation with a depleted battery. We also state the fuel consumption with a depleted battery and the weighted combined fuel and electricity consumption.
Electric vehicles
Battery electric vehicles emit no CO₂ while driving and are in CO₂ class A. We state the combined electricity consumption in kWh/100 km and, where available, the electric range.
Energy costs, CO₂ costs and vehicle tax
For new vehicles we state – where provided by the manufacturer or mobile.de – the energy costs for an annual mileage of 15,000 km, the possible CO₂ costs over the next ten years at a low, medium and high CO₂ price, and the annual vehicle tax. Missing information is available on request at any time.
Used cars
Consumption and emission figures are not required by law for used cars. Where we nevertheless state them, they are voluntary information based on the manufacturer’s data; they are marked as “Used car”.
